Once the app is paired with a car’s head unit, the system can mirror some apps on the vehicle’s display. Connected services accessed through the app include navigation and routing, infotainment (music, social media, news, etc.), SMS, telephone, calendar, search, and hands-free voice assistant among other services. Excludes the sole use of Google Assistant Driving Mode. Excludes audio controlled through a mobile device. Also excludes satellite radio and commercial or publicly owned vehicles. eMarketer benchmarks reported licensed driver figures from the Federal Highway Administration for which the last full year measured was 2023. These figures include restricted drivers and graduated driver licenses.
Methodology: Estimates are based on the analysis of survey and app data from research firms, historical consumer adoption and buying trends, auto market trends, data from benchmark sources, reported company data, interviews, demographic and socioeconomic factors, and macro-economic conditions.
